Building a new 40 Meter 4 Square

What a great day on January 23, 2011. My good friend Barry, K4LOY came over and we went to work. Layed out the measurements for a 40 Meter 4 Square. Used Barry's auger to dig the 5 holes. Put 1 80 lb bag and 1/2 of a 60 lb bag of concrete in each hole. Set the 4x4 supports. Lots of tree cutting and limb triming. Huge progress for a days work. Now to order some DX Engineering radial plates. I already have all the aluminum for the verticals on hand from Texas Towers.

Will post pictures soon !

CW Skimmer and Band Master Together

Installed the CW Skimmer 1.4 on the new computer for the 2nd station today. I was discouraged the first time trying skimmer but the results this time are amazing. I tried using it as a spot source for VE7CC but wasn't successful. Plan B was download Band Master and use it. Since its from the same author that seemed logical. Success this time !. I still prefer VE7CC but this will do for now.

The screen capture is for 20 meters during the CQ WPX CW contest. Skimmer doing a great job copying calls and putting them on Band Master. Using the server built into skimmer. Setup a new telnet connection in Band Master and turned off all the other telnet sites.

Installed RFSPACE IF-2000 in the FT-2000

It has been my goal to monitor 6 meters with a pan adapter for quite some time. I started out experimenting with a FT-847 / High Sierra Microwave 50 Mhz to 12 Mhz Down Converter / SDR-IQ.

I recently upgraded the 6 Meter station to a FT-2000. The DMU from Yaesu seemed overpriced to me for what you get. RFSPACE has a new product that installs in the FT-2000 that works with the SDR-IQ to provide a spectrum display of the band.

The installation today only took a few minutes. Once I get use to it I will post some screen shots.
